October the Month of the Rosary

During the month of October we dedicate our time and prayers to the Rosary. The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events or mysteries in the history of our salvation, and to thank and praise God for them. At its heart is a series of meditations on aspects, or mysteries, of the life of jesus christ and mary his mother. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five joyful mysteries, the five luminous mysteries, the five sorrowful mysteries, and the five glorious mysteries.

During the month of October I encourage you and your family to reflect and focus on Mary in your family prayer. You could share the Hail Mary before meals or even a decade of the Rosary once a week. Taking a little prayer time yourself individually during October could be a wonderful way to embrace the month and seek a little refocusing.
